3 Beer Bars You Should Visit in Berlin

These beer bars have friendly staff, unique quality beer, and good vibes. All in some of Berlin’s coolest neighborhoods.

. . . and if you’re reading this during a lockdown period, they also all offer pick-up and delivery services!

Muted Horn

You guys Muted Horn has options, and really good ones too. Each visit you’re guaranteed to fall for a new beer that you swear is your favorite until the next time you make your way over. If you’re like me and the visual appeal of drinks can easily sway you over then you’re in for some tough choices because they have the prettiest beer cans and bottles in Neukölln, and maybe all of Berlin.

And if you’re looking for a specific style or type of beer then you’re still in luck! They have a rotating menu with more than 30 breweries represented and 40 types of drinks available (not just beer types, also mead, cider, wine, etc.), plus 22 taps! The Canadian owners are super friendly too, and they’ve built connections with breweries all over the world to get you great stuff. Every beer pilgrimage to Berlin (and maybe even Germany?!) requires a stop here. Because, obviously.

Heidenpeters

This microbrewery takes up a small corner (blink and you’ll miss it!) of Markthalle 9 making it the perfect place to try some great food and locally brewed beer. The staff is lovely and knowledgeable, you have a few quality choices including Pilsners, Pale Ales, and IPAs, and it’s in a great area of Kreuzberg to explore afterwards. Plus it’s a super cute and chill environment!

My recommendation: the Thirsty Lady.

Vagabund Brauerei

In the early 2000’s Matt Walthall, David Spengler, and Tom Crozier formed a band in Berlin. Their music sessions involved a lot of beer drinking, and the three Americans began to crave the IPAs and Stouts they couldn’t seem to find in Berlin. At the time Berlin mainly carried Pilsners. Eventually they got the idea to buy equipment and start breweing beer out of Matt’s apartment. What started out as a fun hobby has since led to an award winning brewery and taproom that first opened its doors in 2013.

You can find Vagabund in Wedding and order one of the 150+ brews they’ve brewed to date or one of their international beers. You’ll have a good time here, guaranteed.
