Last edit: May 30, 2023

Craving something sweet in Berlin? Maybe a scoop of vegan ice cream or a dairy and egg-free pastry? This guide lists some of the absolute tastiest desserts you can find in Berlin and bonus: they’re all plant-based friendly.

Every eatery mentioned here has been tried and tested by yours truly, and the eateries tagged with ‘🌱’ are fully plant-based establishments.

If you have a recommendation I’ve missed, please comment below! For now, enjoy these delicious vegan-friendly spots. Find an accompanying map here.

The Sanctuary🌱

A classic Sicilian bakery with a plant-based twist! From the chocolate cornettos to the focaccia sprinkled with salsiccia: everything has an equally scrumptious plant-based alternative. They are in a small space so there’s just a handful of available seating but if you want to linger a little longer you can always join in on one of their Sicilian kitchen plant-based workshops. The aim of their little bakery is to ‘bring traditional Italian artisanal baking a step forward.’ I highly recommend the focaccia, but my favorite sweet treat has to be the pistachio flavored maritozzo, it is absolutely delightful.

Try: Maritozzo Pistacchio
Torstraße 175 | Mitte

Frea🌱

Frea is easily one of my favorite spots on this list. Not only are they 100% plant-based, they also prides themselves in being zero-waste and locally sourced. Food scraps and any single use items are composted on-site, turned into fertilizer, and returned to their local suppliers.

Their homemade baked goods are so delectable! For a classic pastry try their vanilla Spandauer or cardamom bun. If you’re craving something a little less sweet I recommend their marzipan poppy seed twist.

Try: Spandauer
Gartenstraße 9 | Mitte

Round & Edgy🌱

Ooey gooey New Yorker cookies in Berlin. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, and downright delicious. You’ll find lots of creative choices, as well as equally amazing classic cookies like chocolate chip garnished with a sprinkle of sea salt. Plus, other decadent items like their salted caramel banana pudding.

Try: Choco Chunk Sea Salt
Rochstraße 3 | Mitte

Huadou Soy Concept Store🌱

For gourmet intricate cakes, Huadou is your place. They have plenty of unique and decadent cake offerings, including a handful of gluten free options. Plus, sweet drinks like their nutty black sesame latte and their ice cream latte.

Try: Matcha Cake
Linienstraße 205 | Mitte

Cinnamood

Cinnamood is home to pretty tasty vegan cinnamon rolls in Berlin. I’ve tried their blueberry, apple, and biscoff variations, and I am absolutely sold! All the buns were soft and chewy and packed with flavor. Their blueberry version was my favorite, it had just the right amount of sweetness.

Try: Blueberry Vegan Roll
Oranienburger Str. 8 | Mitte

Sakura🌱

Sakura focuses on using mainly seasonal, local, and organic ingredients. Their cheesecake is an excellent choice.

Try: Cheesecake
Tieckstraße 8 | Mitte

Bekarei | Pastel

Here you can find absolutely incredible vegan Pastéis de Nata. They manage to make an incredible version of these pastries that are egg free and deeply delicious. I can’t get enough of them! My Portuguese friend introduced me to this bakery after raving that they’re her favorite Portuguese spot in the city.

Find Bekarei in Prenzlauer Berg, and find their equally charming smaller shop Pastel in Kreuzberg.

Try: Pastel de Nata
Dunckerstraße 23 | Prenzlauer Berg
Wrangelstraße 44 | Kreuzberg

Katchi

It’s telling that I instantly recommended Katchi to all my plant-based friends shortly after my visit. This is honestly the creamiest vegan ice cream I’ve ever had, and I so appreciated the diverse range of flavors. I think my favorite flavor had to be sticky coco, which was a mix of coconut, mango, and raspberry. Their specialty offers like their bubble waffles and extra toppings are also mostly plant-based, and totally delicious, especially their espresso chocolate sauce.

Try: Sticky Coco, Pink Aperol
Grolmanstraße 14a | Charlottenburg
Oranienburger Str. 89 | Mitte

Tribeca🌱

Tribeca offers a creative rotating menu of ice cream in the pretty neighborhood Kollwitzkiez. I’ve tried their chai and lemon poppy seed flavors and liked both!

Try: Lemon poppy seed
Rykestraße 40 | Prenzlauer Berg
Graefestraße 9 | Kreuzberg

Blumental

All the cakes at Blumental are vegan. They carry banana bread and carrot cake every day (while supplies last) and additionally carry a variety of delightful daily cakes with flavors like coffee cardamom, chocolate raspberry, and lemon poppy seed.

Try: Kaffee Kardamom
Engeldamm 64 | Mitte

Brammibal’s🌱

Brammibal’s is undoubtedly the most well-known vegan dessert spot in Berlin. Maybe even the most well-known plant-based establishment in the city in general. With six locations, creative marketing, unique recipes, and a cult following, they’re a must try for anyone with a sweet tooth. After trying these donuts probably close to a dozen times over the past few years I have to say: they are worth the hype. I almost always order one of their seasonal specialties, but my favorite classic donuts of theirs are probably white chocolate with strawberries or salted caramel. But again, I’m a seasonal specialty kind of gal.

Try: White Chocolate with Strawberries, Seasonal Specialties
Prenzlauer Berg | Friedrichshain | Kreuzkölln | Alexanderplatz | Potsdamer Platz | KaDeWe

Froindlichst🌱

Froindlichst is a pleasant restaurant offering a variety of foods made plant-based including burgers, pizza, and nachos. They also have a delicious looking vegan brunch on weekends.

What really stood out to me during my visit was their dessert. I tried their slutty brownie and caramel peanut torte. While their slutty brownie was good, their caramel peanut torte totally blew me away! The mix of peanuts, sweet caramel, and fluffy chocolate cake was incredible. Would definitely visit again purely to get another slice of that torte. Their cheesecake is also something I’m interested in, mainly because it was already sold out for the day when I visited, even though it was only midday and they closed at 10PM that day.

Try: Caramel Peanut Torte
Immanuelkirchstraße 31 | Prenzlauer Berg

Chimneys🌱

Heard of Trdelník? Nicknamed chimney cakes, this Hungarian dessert can be found at Chimneys in Berlin. They go past the classic sugar and spice rub, and offer chimney cakes with a wide variety of toppings, fillings, and dough. I’m not as big of a fan of their soft serve ice cream, and prefer their classic cakes that are served with just the topping they’re rolled in.

Try: Brittle Classic Chimney Cake
Brunnenstraße 173 | Mitte
Warschauer Str. 81 | Friedrichshain

Greenfinch🌱

Both their savoury and sweet goodies are absolutely delicious. Go for their carrot cake or cheesecake. Afterwards you can explore the beautiful and highly underrated micro-neighborhood Bötzowkiez.

Try: Carrot Cake
Käthe-Niederkirchner-Straße 10 | Prenzlauer Berg

Sammy’s Donuts

Sammy’s is a creative donut shop with excellent vegan options. So far I’ve tried their strawberry pistachio and oreo donut, and am eager to try more. Their café latte and cherry rice pudding flavors look especially interesting. They also have more classic donuts available like pink sprinkles and glazed filled with jam. Also vegan, of course.

They currently have two locations, just about a ten minute walk from one another.

Try: Lotus Biscoff
Sophienstraße 30-31 | Mitte
Rosenthaler Str. 4 | Mitte

Michelberger Hotel

This one feels a little silly to mention, but if you’re ever near the Warschauer Straße train station and you’ve got a little time pop into Michelberger Hotel to try one of the best vegan chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. It’s so soft and chewy, but isn’t too heavy. Some bites feel almost healthy? I think they use dark chocolate and oat flour. It’s sweet and indulgent, without being overbearing. The vegan croissant here is very good too.

The hotel lobby also acts as a café, and I’ve found it’s a super cool place for chilling or getting a little work done on my laptop.

Warschauer Str. 39-40 | Friedrichshain

Calm Coffee🌱

Calm Coffee first started serving vegan cinnamon rolls during the pandemic, and their variety and creativity has only grown since. Each week they roll out four flavors, typically boasting a little seasonal flair. The raspberry one is especially delicious and the biscoff ones comes at a close second. There’s so many more I want to try! I’ll have to make a trip over when I see their birthday cake or pumpkin flavors available.

Try: Raspberry Cinnamon Roll
Wühlischstraße 38 | Friedrichshain

Cafe Velicious🌱

With freshly cut flowers on the tables and cheery service from the staff, this quaint café is a sweet spot to get your kaffee und kuchen on. Might I suggest their sahne torte? It’s delicious!

Try: Sahne Torte
Lenbachstraße 13B | Friedrichshain

Lokal Potsdam

Although not quite in Berlin, if you find yourself venturing into the C zone consider making a stop at Lokal Potsdam. Although their plant-based options are limited, their oreo cake is seriously one of the fluffiest and tastiest chocolate cakes I’ve had.

Try: Oreo Cake
Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 89 | Potsdam
