The Best Bagel Shops in Berlin

Last updated: March 25, 2023

Bagels and Berlin. . . could there be a better combo?!

Fine Bagels

Fine Bagels is perhaps the most well known bagel shop in Berlin, they’re actually hitting their ten year anniversary in Berlin in 2023! This Jewish family has been baking bagels for four generations in everywhere from Warsaw to Boston, and the quality has stuck around. They serve up a consistently nice bagel, and if you get there before noon you’ll be treated to a variety of at least a dozen different types of bagels.

My favorite? A rosemary sea salt bagel topped with chive cream cheese, or ‘The Goat’ on practically any bagel. It is a winner any day.

Bonus: this bagel shop is located inside one of the coziest English bookstores in Berlin.

Warschauer Straße 74 | Friedrichshain

Barcomi’s

Barcomi’s is an institution in the city, with their shop first opening in Berlin in the 90’s. There’s a handful of spots inside, but if you have to take it to go, the pretty streets of Bergmannkiez will happily welcome you. May I suggest their garlic bagel with cream cheese and greens? It’s an excellent choice.

Oh, and if you have a sweet tooth, you’re in luck! This shop is known for their cakes as much as their bagels, including their NY-style cheesecake recipe that has been left unchanged since 1994.

Bagelmann Café

This friendly little neighborhood spot is sure to satisfy your bagel desires. The bagel sandwiches here are top notch: high quality ingredients, fair prices, chewy and crispy bagels, and solid variety. The Alaska Bagel is quite the treat, but you really can’t go wrong here.

Neue Bahnhofstraße 30 | Friedrichshain

Baffel’s

Baffel’s is a quaint place for enjoying a classic bagel breakfast sandwich in Berlin. This mellow shop is a nice start to any lazy Sunday, and a wonderful place to appease your appetite.

Gartenstraße 92 | Mitte

Masha’s

Masha’s is another classic spot in Berlin for finding NY style bagels. Their bagels are pretty good, and certainly worth a visit. I’ve visited just once, and ordered their everything bagel with egg, cheddar, and bacon. It was a great way to start my day!

Don’t forget about cream cheese! I like their tomato olive variation.

Bouchéstraße 15 | Alt-Treptow

Bagel, coffee.culture

This cozy spot offers up crispy toasted bagels in a pleasant atmosphere. Pick from a number of fillings, both sweet and savoury. Their thoughtful service is especially memorable.

Mehringdamm 66 | Kreuzberg

A.HORN

Although A.HORN is a bit pricier than most of the options on this list, they really do make such a tasty bagel dish. The Goat and The New Yorker are the only ones I’ve tried, and I can say I was in bagel heaven the whole time. Their location is also quite cute. You can either sit outside in one of their glass greenhouse huts (blankets provided), get a spot in their bustling and bright eatery, or take your brekkie to go and find a spot to eat in the neighboring park. If you choose the latter you’ll be treated to a sweet view of the Landwehr Canal.

Carl-Herz-Ufer 9 | Kreuzberg

Café bRICK

Now I can honestly say I have no clue where Café bRICK gets its bagels. They could be homemade, from a wholesale store, made by a different bagel shop in Berlin, I’m not really sure.* I would have asked when visiting, but I was distracted by the damn good bagel sandwich in front of me. These bagels might not be made in house,** but they are dressed to perfection.

The version I got included a fried egg, bacon, halloumi, pickle, jalapeño, greens, and tomato cream cheese sandwiched between an everything bagel. I mean, just take a look at the picture below. Absolutely incredible. They also have a salmon, cucumber, and horseradish cream cheese variation that I’m sure is just as tasty.

*Update: they’re homemade!!!

**They are in fact, made in house.

Lenaustraße 1 | Neukölln

Still On My List:

Beste Bagel

Beste Bagel is the new bagel shop in town. They’re located in Mitte and border Schöneberg. Their website says they offer ‘fresh homemade NY bagels served with love in Berlin’ and that their mission is to bring ‘the traditional New York bagel to Berlin.’ Looking forward to meandering over soon.

Potsdamer Straße 68 | Mitte

Salomon Bagels

Just a stone’s throw from Zoologischer Garten lies this bagel spot featuring made-to-order sandwiches.

Joachimsthaler Str. 13 | Charlottenburg

Limone - Coffee & Bagels

This new spot is bringing even more good-looking bagels to Charlottenburg. They look like they offer a variety of pre-made bagel sandwiches.
